Ryan Holmes Celebrates Heritage and Financial Literacy with Discover Financial

Ryan Holmes, who celebrates Black History Month and Lunar New Year every February, shared a personal story that highlights the significance of education and financial literacy in his upbringing.

Every Black History Month, Ryan's father would encourage him to read about notable Black history figures, offering $0.25 for each page read. When asked about where the money went, his father said that it was saved and later used for his education. In a humorous nod to this tradition, Ryan gave his parents red envelopes with a few cents inside, a gesture rooted in the Asian custom of giving red envelopes filled with money during the Lunar New Year.
